The Season of Lent
Lent is a season of 40 days, not counting Sundays, which begins on February 17th, Ash Wednesday, and ends on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter Sunday).
Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon word lencten which means “spring”. The season is a preparation for celebrating Easter where we participate in the call to repentance and reconciliation. This is an intentional time of personal inner reflection as we examine areas in our lives that we need to turn away from and grow deeper in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Some of the ways that people participate in Lent is through prayers, meditation, fasting, and self-denial.
Daily Lent devotionals, “Daybreaks” by author and pastor, Kenneth Davis, will be available for $2.00 each at the “Well Grounded Bookstore.”

Labyrinth: Walking a Sacred Path
As part of your Holy Week activities within the church, we are providing you with the opportunity to walk a labyrinth. A labyrinth is an archetypal pattern that has been used since ancient times in various cultures. They are used as a way to quiet the mind and connect with God. There are many reasons one might want to walk this sacred path. This meditative tool helps us to recover a balance in life, gain insight, provide self-reflection, reduce stress, discover innovation, and celebrate with the Divine. The spiritual practice of labyrinth walking integrates the body with the mind and the mind with the spirit.
Lighthouse fellowship's labyrinth will be located in the multi-purpose room. It will be available on:
Holy Thursday, April 1, 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Good Friday, April2, 7:00am - 10:00pm
Easter Weekend, April 3, 7:00am - noon

Lighthouse Fellowship Property Clean Up Efforts
Bud Hughes is spearheading an effort to clean up our church grounds. We are looking for volunteers to help by clearing brush, rocks, trash, etc. The area has been divided up into sections which volunteers can "adopt" and work on at their own pace. These efforts will help to make Lighthouse fellowship more attractive and aid in the future growth of our church.
The following link will take you to a page (PDF reader required) that will outline the various sections and will detail what has to be done for each, along with the tools that would be required. Additional details are available by clicking on the respective section title on the overview page.
> Click here for the Property Clean Up Overview
Contact Bud Hughes for additional information or to schedule a property section: hhh@airmail.net. You may also contact the church office at 817-237-2758.

UMW Easter Egg Hunt April 3rd
United Methodist Women are once again sponsoring the Easter Egg Hunt for Lighthouse children as well as the little ones in the community. We would like to see all kids from infants through fifth grade come out to take part in this fun activity. It will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 10:00am on the grounds of Lighthouse.
We have plenty of plastic eggs but would like the help of our church family in providing the candy to fill the eggs. The candy must be wrapped and no chocolate candy can be used. The resurrection story will be told before the kids are sent out to hunt for eggs. We will be filling the eggs after our meeting on March 27. If you would like to help out, we meet at 10:00 in Room 111. There will be a blue container next to the Mission table to drop off your candy. We need all donations of candy by March 26.
